Hello, I'm Eric, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist serving clients in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Congratulations on taking the first step towards your wellness journey. I strive to build a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and create a supportive environment to work on whatever issues of concern you may have. My approach is grounded in empathy, understanding, and a genuine commitment to your well-being.

I primarily utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients address depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, mood, relationship, and transition issues. Together, we'll work to understand how your thoughts are affecting how you feel and act, identifying maladaptive thoughts and replacing them with reasoned, alternative, and helpful thoughts.

In addition to CBT, I employ motivational interviewing, a person-centered form of guiding that strengthens your motivation for change. This collaborative approach ensures that you are an active participant in your therapeutic journey.

Mindfulness-based therapy is another key component of my practice. Through present moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises, I'll teach you to be in 'the here and now' and help you break away from negative thought patterns that can lead to mood disorders.

Understanding the profound impact of trauma, I incorporate trauma-informed care into my practice. This means I account for your trauma and its effects on your behavior, mental health, and ability to engage in treatment. My goal is to ensure that you feel safe and supported, avoiding any inadvertent triggers or re-traumatization.

Lastly, I provide supportive therapy, offering emotional support, encouragement, and validation during difficult life circumstances or psychological challenges. In our sessions, you'll find a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can talk about your feelings, concerns, and problems. I may also offer practical advice or guidance on how to address specific issues.

With certifications as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our sessions. My specialties include ADHD, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, depression, grief/bereavement, life transitions, military/veteran support, PTSD, stress, and trauma.

I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your path to wellness. Let's take this journey together.
