Hello, I'm Kim. As a therapist, I am warm, caring, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active therapist, combining my experience, education, creativity, and a sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counseling. I graduated from Howard University with an MSW in 1993 and have been fortunate to focus my practice on empowering individuals, couples, and families to overcome personal obstacles and improve their relationships with themselves, others, and society.
I entered the mental health field with a passion for lifting people up and helping them realize how special and amazing they are. Through collaboration with my clients, we explore barriers and determine the best direction to take to remove them, bringing about the healing needed. We address issues as the therapeutic process unfolds, some known and some freshly discovered.
I have training in and use a variety of healing modalities, including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral techniques (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Gottman methodologies, family systems, and grief/bereavement therapy, among others, as needed. My approach is tailored to each client's unique needs, ensuring that we work together to find the most effective path to healing.
If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, I am here to support you every step of the way. Let's work together to overcome the obstacles in your path and help you achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life.
