As a proud Latina and former teen mom, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to the therapeutic space. I’m deeply passionate about mental health and the power of healing through connection, understanding, and culturally sensitive care. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, sexual violence, anxiety, and depression. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in empathy and empowerment. I believe every person deserves to feel heard, safe, and supported especially in their most vulnerable moments. In our work together, I aim to create a space where you can begin to unlearn shame, process pain, and rebuild your sense of self with compassion and strength. Healing is not linear, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
My approach to therapy is one that focuses on connection and sharing. I combine "humanistic" and "CBT" technique; to put it simply, I want you to feel heard and understood and I want to help you enhance your ability to go inward, examine your thoughts, and tolerate your emotions. Other modalities I pull from are IFS, EMDR and DBT. I specialize in treating trauma and eating disorders. *I am EMDR trained by an EMDRIA approved training facility
Ombu Counseling specializes in helping those facing new challenges in life, those in the process of negotiating their place in an adoptive environment, and those seeking to assert themselves in relationships, groups and/or families in which conflicting values, beliefs and expectations prevail. Major life transitions are challenging, especially when they provoke questions about one’s identity, culture, core-values and sense of belonging. Trying to figure this out can result in feelings of confusion and emotional exhaustion. Counseling offers a process for reflecting on such questions and space for containing the emotions they produce.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders and related conditions. I am experienced in treating Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, OCD, substance use, and PTSD. My goal in practice is to deliver effective, efficient care and to provide a safe, encouraging space for change to happen on your terms, guided by your personal values. After I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University Medicine (2017-2019), I stayed on as faculty, working in the dual-diagnosis/addiction medicine clinic until deciding to relocate and establish my practice in LA in 2021. As a researcher and therapist, it is my passion to deliver the most cutting-edge therapies out there for anxiety. I am certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD and have expertise in other exposure therapies for anxiety disorders. Heath behavior change (quitting smoking, exercise) and chronic pain are also areas within my scope. Please reach out to me if you think I might be a good fit for your needs. All services are currently being delivered remote via telehealth. I am also open to seeing California-residing clients via telehealth who are outside of my area. Anxiety’s greatest hits: overthinking, self-doubt, people-pleasing, indecision. Sound familiar? Life gets heavy when your mind won’t slow down, and everything feels like a lot. But really, why have a mind if you can’t change it? As someone who’s been there, I help clients move from stuck and overwhelmed to confident and grounded. Together, we’ll connect the dots between your past and present, understand what’s driving your patterns, and build real tools to calm your body, quiet your thoughts, and create meaningful change. Let’s make space for ease...and joy. Despite my title, I only work with adults individually (I don't see couples or families at this time).

Being a young adult can feel scary right now. Even in these times, I believe deeply in our innate capacity to heal, grow, and transform. Society doesn’t make that process easy- we face inequality, get stuck, and sometimes feel overwhelmed by the weight of it all. There is a path forward, but it’s not always easy to find. A big part of my work is helping you blaze this trail and collaborating with your success. Using a combination of warmth, mindfulness, brain/body science, creativity and sharing knowledge, I help keep your process moving toward living the life you want. Over the past 15 years, I’ve specialized in working with teen girls, young adults in their 20s and 30s, and those navigating life transitions, school, trauma, or relational challenges. This life stage can feel intense- you're shaping your career, defining your values, and building relationships that matter. Together, we can explore those big questions while tending to the deeper layers beneath them. I’m also an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Certified Therapist™, and I use this powerful tool to help clients heal from distressing experiences, integrate their stories, and access new ways of being. EMDR can be our central focus or one approach among many, depending on your needs. As a Puerto Rican-American therapist, I bring a culturally responsive, decolonized lens to this work. I understand that our struggles aren’t just internal, they’re shaped by larger systems that impact how we live, relate, and find belonging. If you're navigating second-generation or multicultural identity, I’ve got you. My goal is to create a space that honors your complexity and supports your power. Whether you’re seeking support for anxiety, identity exploration, trauma recovery, or simply a space to connect with yourself, I’d be honored to work with you.
