I am a psychotherapist, author and teacher with forty years of clinical experience dedicated to helping people learn how to change their lives. In addition to the practice of psychotherapy, I also serve as the consultant psychologist for Jewish Family and Career Services in Atlanta. I am the author of two books and have presented talks at over 100 professional meetings. My latest book is "Change Happens: When to Try Harder and when to Stop Trying So Hard".
My style is warm and compassionate. I work with people who are struggling and want to learn and grow from their life experiences, good and bad. I am skillful and successful at supporting people face adversity and move forward with improved skills and tools to succeed.
I know what it feels like to hate your body, spend every waking moment thinking about food, constantly comparing yourself to others, and dealing with the sadness associated with not 'fitting in'. Throughout my experiences working with adults and children, I've witnessed entire transformations that come only as a result of addressing both physical needs and our individual psychological hurdles. I'll work with you to find solutions and tackle stressors, including those caused by low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, chronic dieting, or relationships. As a Body Love Coach and Licensed Professional Counselor, I work to equip women and girls with the knowledge, tools, and support they need in order to ROCK regardless of their weight or body image. **I'm in-network for Amerigroup, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem, CareSource, Humana, and Peach State. I also provide therapy virtually and in the community.
During our sessions together, I will support you in exploring the many parts of you and how they came to be. I will work with you to identify the negative messages connected to these parts of you. We will form a relationship with these parts and create a safe place for all of you to be seen, heard, and understood. In this safe place, you will heal yourself. Developing my own internal resources has helped me to move through some very difficult times as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Using evidence based research, I provide care that values every part of you and respects where you came from. In those moments of pain and struggle and self-discovery, I will help you to choose yourself. I seek to create a safe and inclusive space for black-bodied individuals, first generation immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, survivors of trauma, sex workers, and clients who are struggling with relationship and intimacy issues. My approach to mental health care is rooted in anti-oppressive and decolonizing frameworks. The treatment modalities that I use have been found to be effective across many cultures, ages, genders, and experiences. I am here to support my clients in rediscovering themselves, strengthening their mind-body connection, and living the life they have always wanted.
As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, it’s my goal to advocate for patients who struggle to be heard or respected, and to manage their treatment with compassion, understanding, and attention to holistic care. Nursing is all about the relationship you establish with your patients, and understanding them from their perspective. I believe mental health care should be a collaborative effort between the individual and their provider, with the ultimate goal of achieving total body wellness.
Jennifer Chase Finch is dedicated to resolving trauma through somatic treatment modalities, meditation, contemplative and integrative sciences. In addition to her private practice, she offers online and in-person mindfulness trainings to individuals, health care practitioners and corporate settings. Her great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through trauma with a Capital “T” or a lower case “t,” so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe individuals and they can thrive and flourish in the world in the way they were intended. She earned her master's degree in Counseling Psychology and Addictionology from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She has extensive training in crisis counseling, addictions, attachment disorders, meditation and trauma-based therapy. She is a graduate of the CBCT (Cognitively-Based Compassion Training®) and is now a Certified CBCT instructor through Emory University's Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion Based Ethics. She is currently enrolled in a 3-year intensive Somatic Experiencing® (SE) certification program, and is a Level I SE Practitioner. I like to describe a therapy session as a situation where I am a copilot to my client where they take on leadership on the course of our journey. As a copilot, I have the maps and directions. I am here to support my clients in making the best decisions and walking the path to achieving their goals. Success starts when you make a decision to seek help through therapy. Every session attended is a step closer to achieving goals and getting to where you need to be. Every step and every minute counts. My practice focuses on helping clients address concerns related to anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, and relationship concerns (i.e. communication issues, lack of trust, recent break-up, etc.). As a therapist, I am down to earth and relatable. I value taking a directive approach in effort to getting to the root of the issue while helping you identify and implement effective coping strategies to help you live a more fulfilling life.
Working with a psychologist should be a positive and beneficial experience. Not only do I believe in supporting my clients through successes and challenges, I love my work and am very dedicated to those I work with. In my practice, I specialize in providing comprehensive psychological assessments and therapy with individuals. I conduct comprehensive evaluations, aimed at evaluating possible learning disorders, attention regulation concerns (ADHD), dyslexia, processing deficits, and behavioral/emotional issues. My assessments are very thorough, as my ultimate goal is to paint a clear picture of strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to provide highly personalized recommendations. My treatment approach is cognitive-behavioral (CBT), coupled with collaboration, warmth, and respect. Presenting concerns include anxiety, executive functioning weaknesses, depression, adjustment, behavior management, and addressing academic concerns. My hope for therapy is to produce lasting change, including coping with stressors, addressing challenges, and resolving presenting concerns.
Managing school coursework, social commitments, family obligations, and future life planning can be a lot. College years can be really wonderful but can also become quite overwhelming at times. If you're finding it difficult to manage it all, let's talk. You've set out to better your life by earning a degree and you don't have to struggle through the experience. I work with clients attempting to manage increased feelings of anxiety and depression. Sometimes these feelings are due to the stress of increased demands and sometimes they seem to come out of no where. Partnering with a therapist can help identify your particular struggles and what may help to begin to improve things. Please feel free to check out my website for more information or to contact me directly to talk more.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who brings a warm approach to direct, empowering, and holistic therapy to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks. My therapy style is collaborative, humorous, and affirming as I believe you are the expert in your own life but I can be a supportive tool to help you in being who you want to be! Healing isn't one-size-fits-all, and therapy shouldn't be either. My work is based in trauma-informed care that honors where you've been, what you have experienced, and meets you exactly where you are. I believe your body holds wisdom that talk therapy alone can't always reach, which is why we integrate somatic approaches that help you reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.
Hi I'm Alison Cross! I am a psychotherapist, and I provide both in person and virtual services in Georgia and North Carolina. It’s important to have an idea of what feels like the right fit when you’re looking for a qualified person to talk to. The problem is, how do you know? So here's what it looks like with me. When my client leaves our session, my goal is for them to feel heard and respected. I want my clients to feel like they’re talking to a real person. How else can trust be built? My style has been described as 'down to earth, gentle, and encouraging.' I also have a great sense of humor that comes in only when appropriate. I view therapy as a safety net for the various issues clients bring. I will collaborate with you from the very first session on goals for your time. Some people I work with prefer to set the agenda for our time together, with just a few interjections from me. Understanding the big picture and getting to the heart of the matter are things I'm good at. I have also completed the Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems and Level 1 training in the Embodied Reocvery Model. I love using these models because they are beautifully client focused. My goal is to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with you. When that happens, hope is tangible and the spirit opens to new life and new beginnings. All sessions with me will be virtual unless I'm in Atlanta and we can coordinate an in person session.
