Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counsellor (LCPC) based in Illinois. I received my Masters from the Roosevelt University and have been practicing for 10 years. I help adolescents, families and adults struggling with big feelings or barriers that are not allowing them to live their happiest, healthiest life. I help individuals better understanding their feelings and offer support in making meaningful change and identify ways to problem-solve and move forward. I practice from a behavioral perspective and believe that every behavior has a purpose even if that purpose is not obvious. With the help of my clients, I work to understand the function of the behavior and then help my clients to acquire the necessary skills to have their needs met more appropriately. I believe that rapport and the therapeutic relationship are critical to be successful in providing support to my clients. I thrive on incorporating creative, unique, and idiosyncratic interventions to make the therapeutic process meaningful for the individual client. Through compassion, empathy, and understanding, I help my clients be the best version of themselves and thrive!
After starting a career in higher education, I realized that I wanted more opportunities to spend time with students 1:1 and support them through all of the life changes that occur throughout college: deciding on a major, finding new friends, separating from family, changing majors, figuring out how to adult, starting a career, excelling in classes that only become more rigorous, and maybe changing majors again. All of this in addition to finding time for yourself becomes quite difficult! As a psychotherapist, I work with students experiencing depression and anxiety as they navigate the challenges and stressors that come with being in college. Many have also had difficult or traumatic experiences while growing up, and are ready to figure out how to talk about them. Through weekly appointments, we'll build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, and quickly develop an understanding of your goals for therapy. For some, this will mean our work together is brief. For others, we'll settle into a long-term working relationship that will see you through the ups and downs over the next few years. I primarily use a psychodynamic approach in therapy, which means we'll explore your inner thoughts and feelings to understand how they affect your behaviors and relationships. I find that this approach helps you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, including how you might get in your own way from time to time and what you might want to do differently. Always, the goal is to support you as you (re)discover your strengths and learn to accept yourself as human, making both life and college a little easier to navigate moving forward. Please note: I'm licensed to see individuals in Florida, Illinois, and Michigan.

As a first generation immigrant and a former international student from South Korea, I am very passionate about working with clients with multicultural backgrounds. Since 2004, I have worked with people in South Korea, college students and graduate students in IL and CA, and people in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who struggle with relationship issues, family, life adjustment, intersecting identities, communications with older or younger generations, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and so on. I offer bi-lingual therapy; I worked as a licensed counselor in S. Korea, so you can speak only Korean, only English, or both languages in session. Since 2010, I have been working with clients to address a variety of issues in the United States. The main issues I have dealt with include relationship problems (romantic, family, interpersonal), anxiety, depression, ADHD, adjustment, identity, and self-esteem. The experiences of individuals rooted in immigrant families in the United States are special and unique. I have extensive experience counseling first, second, and third-generation Korean and Asian clients over the past 15 years while working in university counseling centers in the U.S. I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, primarily using elements drawn from Psychodynamic, Interpersonal, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) or Solution-Focused therapy based on the nature of the issues or client’s needs. In therapy, I strive to create new understanding, provide corrective experiences, and promote changes. My clients have told me that they enjoyed their work with me because they loved the insight about them and their patterns that they got from our work, warm and consistent support from me, and changes that they were motivated to make throughout the course of the therapy.
I strive to create meaningful and lasting, positive changes unique to you. My approach to therapy is a mixture between humorous and energetic, and empathetic and warm. I will always aim to create a safe space where you will feel heard, you can be your authentic self, and you will never be judged. I am here to help you process the difficult thoughts and emotions you are experiencing while creating a space that empowers and uplifts you. We will work together to open your eyes to new ways of seeing the world and interpreting your thoughts. We will truly be a team working together to meet your goals in therapy. I am a Clinically Licensed Professional Counselor with specialized training in trauma. I will honor your unique background, personality, and life experiences taking them into consideration during our sessions to help you gain a deeper sense of self-understanding. I take pride in providing the most effective and evidence-based therapy that will meet your needs. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and will integrate some techniques from EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing-if you have a history of trauma, anxiety, or depression. After having a personally hard postpartum journey, an interest and passion in perinatal care developed as well! To all the struggling mamas, I am here, you are not alone! I’m in the process of getting certified with perinatal care for even more effective therapy targeting these very necessary and important needs. Personally, I am a wife, mama, and fitness lover. I love being around positive people/energy and always seeking ways to better myself. I am obsessed with coffee, nature, and reality tv. I look forward to working with you!
