You feel anxious and it’s hard to shut your brain off. People tell you to relax, but it’s not that easy for you. You’ve worked hard to get where you are, but it’s hard to sit back and enjoy it. Your standards for yourself feel too high, and you question how long you can keep this up. You tend to doubt yourself and your abilities and look to other people to reassure you. It’s hard to take up space, feel confident, and speak your truth. You want to feel present in your life and like you’re able to love and appreciate yourself just as you are. You want to feel confident, courageous, and like you are able to advocate for yourself. You want to feel happy, calm, and at peace with your life, your relationships, and your career. I specialize in working with young adults with anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism to build self-confidence and live a life they love. A better future is possible, and I'm here to help you create it. I can’t wait to hear from you, send me an email or call me to schedule a free phone consultation.
Welcome to Lily Mental Health! College can be one of the most exciting times of life — and also one of the hardest. Between academics, relationships, identity shifts, and the pressure to “have it all figured out,” it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. On the outside you may look like you’re managing, but inside you may be struggling with stress, burnout, or the feeling that you’re not yourself. I’ve worked with hundreds of college students who’ve faced challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, trauma, and major life transitions. Many have already tried counseling, medications, or coping strategies, but still feel stuck and want something more thoughtful, practical, and personalized. My name is Julie Bass, I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C). I have worked in mental health for over 10 years and offer a blend of medication management and integrative strategies that go beyond quick fixes. My practice is intentionally small so I can provide personalized care — not rushed diagnoses or one-size-fits-all treatment plans. I take the time to really understand your story, explore the root causes of your symptoms, and help you find sustainable ways forward. I especially enjoy working with college students navigating identity, independence, and transitions, as well as international students, who often carry the added stress of being far from home, balancing cultural expectations, and adapting to a new environment. I also know how busy student schedules can be, so I offer early morning, evening, and weekend appointments to make care more accessible. If you’ve ever thought: “I should be able to handle this, but I feel like I can’t.” “I’m doing everything right, but I still don’t feel better.” “No one seems to actually listen.” …know that you’re not alone. My practice is built on the belief that you deserve care that feels collaborative, respectful, and empowering — care that helps you understand yourself and create lasting change. This is a space where your voice matters. Let’s work together to help you feel grounded, confident, and connected again.

I am a psychologist working at CampusCare Counseling, a group practice serving only college students. I am highly experienced in addressing mental health needs of undergraduate and graduate students. My therapeutic work takes a largely integrative approach including, but not limited to, the use of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, exposure and response prevention, and acceptance and commitment therapeutic interventions. I work through a humanistic and client-centered lens, drawing from many concepts of internal family systems therapy. I believe that at our core, we are all inherently “good,” but our unique life experiences can lead us to adopt beliefs, behaviors, and coping strategies that may be healthy at times, or harmful at others. For this reason, I believe it is essential to explore the relationships and events that shaped distressing thoughts or unwanted behaviors to facilitate meaningful change. I hold unconditional positive regard for my clients, utilizing a trauma-informed approach to help college students gain a deeper understanding of themselves and a genuine appreciation for all the parts that make them who they are. It is my belief that with self-insight and self-love present, transformation, healing, and relief are always within reach.

Hello, I enjoy working with young adults on life transition issues. These include living independently for the first time, fitting into a new community, loneliness, anxiety, depression. I am also a neuropsychologist, experienced in working with students who have learning and attentional difficulties. My therapy tends to be goal-focused and short-term. I work hard on building comfort and trust with clients, so issues and feedback can be shared in a growth-enhancing way. I do not treat clients who are susceptible to having major crises requiring urgent care and hospitalization. My area of expertise is the development of a positive identity and rewarding relationships.
I specialize in working with adults who have achieved significant success in some domain, but still struggle to feel confident, connected, and/ or whole. Even when you've found academic or career related success, life can still feel empty. Feeling stuck or hopeless is a symptom of the problem. I can help you feel more alive and connected to all parts of your life I have 10 years experience and advanced training in insight oriented and relational psychotherapy. I believe in a curious, compassionate, and flexible approach, where I am an active participant in the conversation. I have a psychodynamic disposition, but am also very influenced by mindfulness and use an integrative approach where I can bring in interventions from multiple modalities if desired.
I have 35 years of experience in doing therapy, including having done a fellowship in College Health. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and am affiliated at Brigham & Women's Hospital. I enjoy working with people particularly in the areas of anxiety and depression, love and relationship concerns, family issues, college life adjustment, career matters, and dealing with medical illness. My office is in Cambridge. I am trained in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for young people, adults, and kids. I can also prescribe medication, although I don’t do that unless it is in the context of an ongoing regular therapy. I’d be happy to talk with you to see if we’re a good fit for working together! People seek psychotherapy for different reasons. You may want to address symptoms of depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem, feelings of distress, vulnerability, or isolation. You may be searching for greater meaning, connection, authenticity, and empowerment in your daily interactions. Therapy can help reveal and change patterns that inhibit or undermine living the life you desire. In a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, we can create conditions for growth, challenge ways of seeing, process painful experiences, and increase your awareness and acceptance of different parts of yourself. I take a relational therapeutic approach and integrate methods that promote insight, emotional awareness, and motivation for behavioral change. Through my training and education at Harvard and Boston Universities, I developed expertise in treating anxiety disorders, trauma and loss, and in helping people identify and strengthen their sources of resilience. It can be an uncomfortable endeavor to start therapy for the first time or again. Building comfort and trust in relationship is one of the first things you and I would work on together. I welcome your questions and input from the start and throughout the process. Please feel free to get in touch.

At the heart of psychotherapy is accompaniment through one’s inner world. Current difficulties, past struggles, individual and familial traumas, hidden hopes and dreams – all of this will be central to making sense of your present and building toward your future. Starting psychotherapy can feel intimidating, but the benefits can be huge: deeper self-understanding, more meaningful and authentic relationships, reduced depression and anxiety, increased self-confidence. I have worked with a diverse swath of undergrad and graduate students in college counseling centers, and have studied and taught at private and public universities across the country. My specializations include relationship struggles, family conflict and crisis, identity development, career direction, academic concerns, gender and sexuality, trauma, spirituality, creativity, chronic illness, immigration, and LGBTQIA+ issues in teens and adults. I am committed to meeting you where you are at in the therapeutic process, and I welcome exploration of racial, sexual, and gender identities. I am a Harvard Medical School Psychiatry fellow trained in psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness-based therapies, but I believe a strong sense of connection is the most important element in seeking a therapist. I encourage you to reach out to a number of practitioners to find a good match. I look forward to hearing from you.
