Therapists for college students near 27705
Hi, I'm Danielle. I help people build more confidence in themselves, make peace with their bodies, and improve their relationships. On the surface, you might hold it together pretty well. You try so hard to keep up in your classes, stay busy, and show up for your friends. The thing is, no one knows how overwhelmed, insecure, and lonely you really feel. There's a vague but heavy sense of self-doubt that interferes with your decisions, self-confidence, and relationships. On some level, you know there's got to be another way, and there IS! You can feel more peace, find your voice, build self-trust, and step into the life you actually want. I'd love to help you get there! My goal is to provide a safe space for you to feel like you can fully be yourself, process your experiences, and figure out how to become the best version of yourself. I believe therapy is tough, serious work, AND it can also be filled with laughter and lightness. I have worked extensively throughout my career with clients struggling with self-esteem, whether that shows up in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, or relationship/dating issues. We'll start by building insight and awareness around the patterns and behaviors you're struggling with. From there, we'll work to make the meaningful changes needed to build a life you're proud of and excited about. If this resonates with you, you're in the right place! You can learn more about me on my website or by reaching out to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

Hi! If you are looking into therapy with a goal of feeling better, I am here to support you with that goal. I am a bilingual Latina therapist specializing in providing multicultural and trauma-informed care. I myself am an immigrant and a first-gen college student, so I have lived experience with many of the challenges that college students face. I have spent the last 5 years working with college-aged BIPOC students and I look forward to continuing this work! Each of my sessions is tailored to you, taking into account your unique identities, history, and goals. Whether you are feeling alone, overwhelmed, facing challenges in this period of your life, or need another support in your circle, I am here to stand with you as we cultivate healing and joy. My goal is to be a facilitator to support you in managing the challenges that exist in your world and still feeling like your best self. I know that taking the first steps to finding a therapist can be challenging and commend you on carving out time and space for yourself. I am happy to take the time to answer any questions or address any concerns before taking any next steps. Feel free to reach out, and I truly look forward to getting to know you.
Let me ask you a few questions. Let me know if any of this applies to you. Do you often find yourself feeling tired, stressed out, overwhelmed at work, unable to focus, or constantly feeling you need a break? How about this, when you finally take a break or vacation you notice that you don't enjoy the time away because there is a laundry list of things you feel you should be doing or need to get done before you can relax? Have you found that you have a hard time getting to sleep or staying asleep because you are thinking or worrying about any and everything when you just need to get some rest? IF any of this is you, when would you like to get started working with me?
We ALL have a purpose! Through exploration of our core beliefs, our thoughts and our emotional responses, we can better understand who we are and how we interact with the world. We can equip our self's to face the challenges life presents. I look forward to guiding you through this journey. Being human can be tough! While experiencing the challenges that life may hold, I believe you deserve to be heard, understood, and accepted. I aim to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to share, explore, heal, and make sense of your story and experiences. As we work together, you may identify aspects of your life that you would like to change or experience differently. We will work together with curiosity to create intentional and meaningful steps towards creating that change in your life. For me, it is a deep honor to be a part of your journey as we navigate life’s challenges. As someone who has been a client, I commend you for the courage and vulnerability it takes to begin looking for a counselor. You have made it this far with the resilience that resides within you, and I believe you deserve the opportunity to experience the benefits that counseling has to offer. As a counselor, I use an integrative approach that is collaborative and relationship-based, values and strengths-focused, and social justice-oriented. My approach is influenced by components of and includes teaching skills from Person-Centered, Acceptance and Commitment, Dialectical Behavioral, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. Additionally, I practice from a lens that is trauma-informed and acknowledges the influence of systemic marginalization, intersectionality, and social injustices. Topics that I support adults in navigating include but are not limited to adjustment and stress management, LGBTQIA+ identities, identity development, issues related to young adulthood and attending college, career path exploration, interpersonal relationships, anxiety and depression, grief, trauma, shame, and self-compassion. Outside of my work, you might find me enjoying some time outside hiking or walking at the park, hanging out or cooking a meal with my chosen family and friends, playing the Nintendo Switch, laughing at memes or TikToks, or just catching up on tv shows/movies with my partner and our two cats.
Hi there—I know college can feel overwhelming, especially when you're juggling ADHD, anxiety, or using substances to cope. I’m here to help you feel understood, not judged. Together, we’ll create a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s going on, find relief, and start building the life you want—one step at a time. I offer telehealth therapy to students across North Carolina, including those at UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Asheville, NC State, ECU, App State, and UNC Charlotte. For in-person sessions, I welcome students attending Blue Ridge Community College, Brevard College, Mars Hill University, Warren Wilson College, UNC Asheville and other schools near Hendersonville, Asheville, and Western NC. My goal is to create a warm, affirming space to help you feel understood, empowered, and equipped to thrive—in class and in life.
As a PMHNP, my role focuses on the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health conditions. I prescribe medications, provide brief psychotherapy, and offer holistic care to those students dealing with mental health challenges. I work closely with patients to understand their symptoms, identify treatment options, and ensure their psychiatric needs are met through both pharmacological and therapeutic interventions, to include genetic testing and ADHD computer based testing. I have extensive experience working with college students to help manage the anxiety, stress, depression and all the emotions that may come with being a young adult student.

I’m here to hold a space where you can show up fully and be met with care, empathy, and non-judgment. My therapeutic approach is guided by a commitment to fostering dignity, resilience, and empowerment, with a focus on practical strategies for personal growth and self-care. I am EMDR trained and use this as well as other therapeutic approaches to support clients in healing from trauma and cultivating a sense of personal sovereignty. As a mixed race-Black, trans-masculine, and nonbinary practitioner, I understand the importance of being seen and affirmed. I approach therapy with a commitment to creating a secure, affirming space where clients can unfold into their most authentic selves. My approach is informed by evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, (IPT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and Organizational Skills Training for ADHD. These approaches work best when we can develop a strong therapeutic relationship. Accordingly, I prioritize creating a warm, supportive space for us to work together toward the goals that are most important to you.

Some clients enter therapy to learn specific skills and practices to increase their well-being, while others simply want an empathetic listener to help them work through life’s challenges. As a therapist, I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment for clients to explore the complexities of their lives and to feel heard and understood. I particularly enjoy working with older adolescents and young adults on issues surrounding anxiety, OCD, phobias, life transitions, depression, and traumatic experiences. I understand that frequently our emotions and past experiences can keep us from living the lives that we hoped for, and I strive to help clients move forward to live in line with their values.
