Welcome! I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for disordered eating, eating disorders, and anxiety/perfectionism. I am extensively trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an action-based therapy which helps individuals accept challenging emotions and experiences while doing what works and is meaningful to them - moving towards the life they want to live. ACT is an evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, as well as anxiety, depression, OCD, and chronic pain. For the past five years, I have worked in eating disorder treatment at all levels of care. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP).

I work with individuals to navigate life's many hardships whether those challenges be difficult life transitions, academic stress, overwhelming emotions, depression, anxiety, suicidality, trauma, obsessions and compulsions, attention problems, or social concerns. I support my client's by providing skills and knowledge to build a life they feel is worth living. My therapeutic style is collaborative, empathetic, evidence-based, and non-judgmental. I believe in the power of building a strong therapeutic alliance where you feel heard, understood, and supported every step of the way. Working with me means learning about yourself, developing coping skills, and trouble-shooting those coping skills so that they work for you. We'll know therapy is working when you start your days feeling rested, engaged, and energized and when you end your days feeling relaxed, accomplished, content, and ultimately feel proud of yourself.

I am a clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher who empowers people using the guiding principles of empathy, curiosity, cultural humility, and collaboration. I take an integrative, somatic, and highly relational approach and work to understand how the intersection of your unique experiences impact today. I remain committed to working with people as they face a range of experiences, including multicultural concerns, oppression, identity exploration, trauma, anxiety, depression, queer/LGB+ concerns, trans and gender identity related concerns, relationship concerns, chronic illness, and grief. In addition to more "Western" approaches to therapy, my own background as an Indian-American, as well as my training and experiences in esoteric practices rooted in the ancient traditions and wisdoms of India, China, and Tibet, deeply inform my work. I draw from these practices and find these global practices seamlessly meet our more "Western" approaches. I help individuals develop an embodied awareness of how their own natural processes of self-healing may have been blocked over time by various experiences in their life. I look forward to the process of helping you deepen your self-awareness and take safe risks. I am honored and eager to help you make positive changes, and ultimately, to heal.

Feeling like a shadow of your former self. Just going through the motions. All this pretending, performing—it’s exhausting. You’ve become a master at molding yourself to fit others’ expectations of you. And just to keep the peace. And social media is messing with your mental health. Hi, my name is Rachel Kelly and I am a licensed professional counselor accepting new clients at Chrysalis Counseling. Has the state of the world left you freaking exhausted? Do you drag yourself through your days at work or school with a fake smile on your face? Do you spend more of your free time than you'd like either stuck in a blanket burrito listening to Bo Burnham's "Inside" on repeat and drinking too much or catering to everyone's needs but your own? I get it. It's hard to balance taking care of yourself and supporting the people you care about while facing a constant onslaught of global stress. That's why I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment therapy to help people make peace with things they can't control and follow through on taking their power back to make meaningful changes where they can. I know that you've been doing the best you can and it's getting too hard to keep doing it on your own. You don't have to anymore. Send me an e-mail today to make an appointment or set up a phone consultation to decide if I'm the right person to help you get out of your head and into your life. *I am licensed in both South Carolina and North Carolina and can provide telehealth sessions to individuals anywhere in either state. I can accept BCBS and private pay. I can provide superbills for possible reimbursement with any insurance company.

So often, life can feel overwhelming. You may be navigating big transitions, trying to be a good partner, or feeling the pressure to hold everything together - while inside you feel like you’re barely managing. These struggles can feel lonely, but you don’t have to go through them alone. Therapy provides a supportive space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and gain clarity and insight into your experiences. I offer compassionate, person-centered therapy for adults 18+ navigating a variety of issues. My work is tailored to each individual and may draw on mindfulness, skills-building, and exploration of your experiences to support you in whatever you are navigating. I am passionate about supporting women’s mental health, including pregnancy and postpartum concerns, and can also offer support for couples. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, but I will meet you with warmth, curiosity, and nonjudgment, offering space for you to feel seen and supported. If you're ready to take that next step, I'd be honored to walk with you on the journey.

Of all the relationships we have in our lives, I believe that the one you have with yourself is the most important and impactful. Therapy allows a person to create an authentic relationship with oneself. Through the therapeutic process, a person is able to find and access their own innate ability to heal and grow within a supportive, compassionate, and empowering environment. My passion for this work comes from seeing my clients evolve to feel happier and healthier in their daily lives. What I do: Individual Psychotherapy- I provide both in-person and telehealth treatment for teenagers, young adults, and adults, focusing a wide array of concerns including: life transitions, traumatic life experiences, daily functioning impairment, anxiety, and depression Gender and Sexuality Affirming Mental Health Care- I provide a safe space for those of you within the LGBTQIA+ community to process concerns unique to your own lived experiences Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)- EMDR is a research-backed treatment developed to help you heal following traumatic events by processing memories and gaining control over the way the trauma history impacts the mind and body. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)- CBT is used to help you understand and learn skills to challenge unhelpful or maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns Mindfulness- Mindfulness techniques are used to teach you how to relate to your thoughts differently and to live in the moment

I practice with science-supported strategies to help people reduce stress, make health behavior changes (e.g., eat healthier), and adjust to illness or injury. I also work extensively with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, body image concerns, and disordered eating. I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and positive psychology interventions. I conduct teletherapy and am licensed for residents in North Carolina and all the states in PSYPACT (https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap) . Teletherapy has been found to be comparably effective to in-person therapy. It also offers greater flexibility, accessibility, and privacy. I'd be happy to work with you!

I believe in the quiet brilliance that lives within everyone. A light that may flicker beneath exhaustion, doubt, or the weight of being everything to everyone, but never entirely goes out. You are the steady one, the go-to, the fixer of things. Yet in still moments, the whisper comes:
"What if they find out I’m barely holding on?" Here, you are invited to lay it all down.
To exhale.
To listen inward. My mission is to help you return to your own knowing: the fierce, intuitive, radiant self that may have been buried beneath roles, expectations, and the noise of the world. Through thoughtful, compassionate therapy, I will help guide you, not toward becoming someone else, but toward remembering who you’ve always been.

Are you struggling to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, or being away from home? Do you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling down, or having difficulty sleeping? Are you experiencing conflict with parents, peers, or even professors? Are you questioning whether college is the right path for you, or if you're pursuing it due to external pressure? Everyone experiences some level of stress during this time, but if these feelings are persistent and impacting your daily life, or causing significant relationship strain, it might be helpful to talk to someone. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these challenges, develop coping strategies, and clarify your own goals and values. Our virtual sessions offer the flexibility to meet before, between, or after classes, making it easier than ever to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate this new chapter.
