At In Pursuit Of Progress Therapy, we envision the therapeutic process as: the unfolding of one’s story in connection with an entrusted professional; often with the desire to come to know oneself on a deeper level and/or to empower a person to make vital shifts in alignment with personal growth and self-acceptance There is something to be said of the fact that change happens when the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change. However, while our stories will undoubtedly include painful periods of grief, disillusionment, anguish and anxiety, the complex journey that is the human experience is made up of so much more than those difficult moments. Joy, elation, curiosity and wonder are also feelings that we may observe needing just as much help to navigate. Sparks of inspiration such as exploring core beliefs, building upon prior self-discovery or learning to create a sense of safety within can also be precursors to seeking therapy. In other words, each person’s journey is their own. Our practice’s story is built around meeting the needs of our clients. Your story is yours to tell. And it is your [courageous] choice to take that vulnerable first step towards finding someone you can begin to build trust with and open up to.

Jennifer attended New York University, where she earned her master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling. Prior to her graduate work, Jennifer attended Stanford University, where she not only earned her bachelor’s degree in International Relations but was also a four-year scholar-athlete and captain of the women’s soccer team. Following her undergraduate studies, she played professional soccer for the New York Power and then worked in the financial and pharmaceutical industries for nearly a decade. Jennifer views her work as a therapist as a privilege, and she finds incredible joy in this role. While she leans on a multitude of therapeutic approaches, she believes in using a collaborative approach, working as a team to awaken strengths and challenge distorted thinking, and developing practical tools to obtain optimal mental health. My mission as a counselor and educator is to provide a framework for my clients to achieve optimal mental health. Mental wellness, like physical wellness, requires quality care from the right clinician—the right clinician for your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. She meets each of her clients where they are on their respective mental health journey, whether they are experiencing symptoms for the first time, they were previously in treatment, or they are just interested in improving their mental wellness. Modalities Jennifer received supervised training in substance use counseling at Weill Cornell Medical College, Midtown Center for Treatment and Research. She is certified in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques. She has also completed workshops in mindfulness-based stress reduction practices at the Albert Ellis Institute and in TEAM-CBT techniques at the Feeling Good Institute.

With over 20 years of experience, I specialize in anxiety, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic attacks, and social anxiety, as well as depression and ADHD. I also support college students navigating academic stress, overthinking, self-doubt, perfectionism, social and relationship challenges, and balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities. I integrate evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help you achieve your goals. You’ll develop practical tools to respond differently to unhelpful or intrusive thoughts, cope with uncertainty, manage intense emotions, and build a life that feels meaningful, enjoyable, and grounded. You built a life and career by being the reliable one. The strong and independent one. The high-performer. Now you wake up tired, restless, and questioning who you are beneath the grind. I work with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Adult Children of Immigrants navigating burnout, complex trauma, perfectionism, anxious stress, and identity conflict who feel lost in this stage of life and want to reconnect with themselves. Clients often say they are overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, shutting down in relationships, or carrying stress in their body. Through trauma focused therapy, we explore the parts of you shaped by survival, family expectations, culture, and attachment. I integrate somatic work, IFS, CBT, and liberation based therapy to build awareness, emotional inner balance, and boundaries that reflect your values. As a 1st generation Haitian and Black therapist I know reaching out can feel loaded when you are used to handling everything alone. You do not have to justify needing support. I offer a 20 minute phone or video consultation to explore fit and help you take a steady first step toward change.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or your relationships? You’re not alone. Between chronic stress, systemic inequities, and the emotional labor of simply getting through the day, it can be hard to know where to begin. If you’re here, something in you is ready for change. I’m a Black male therapist in NYC providing trauma-informed online therapy to adults across New York State. I work with individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, racial and cultural identity concerns, relationship challenges, and the emotional impact of discrimination and marginalization. Many of my clients are Black men, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and young adults seeking care that feels affirming, honest, and grounded. My approach is culturally responsive, collaborative, and relational. Together, we explore patterns shaped by past experiences while also building practical tools to support emotional resilience, self-trust, and meaningful change in the present. Therapy with me is a space where you do not need to code-switch, shrink, or perform. You get to show up as you are. If this resonates, I invite you to visit my website to learn more about my work and schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in midtown Manhattan. When I decided to go back to school for a master’s degree, I chose social work because I felt strongly about its foundational belief that focus should be on both a person and their environment. During graduate school at Fordham University I saw many appealing paths I could continue on after graduation. While both macro and micro levels of practice are extremely important, I felt best suited for work with individuals on a deeper level. I wanted to further my education and went on to complete the four-year postgraduate training program in Adult Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from The National Institute for the Psychotherapies. Prior to private practice I worked with a diverse population in various clinics throughout New York City. In addition to private practice I have been guest faculty at the Training Institute for Mental Health and taught a course on Eating Disorders. In March 2020, I completed a post master’s program in Spirituality and Social Work at New York University.

Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It usually means you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time. I work with college students and young adults who are trying to keep up on the outside while feeling stressed, burned out, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Therapy with me is practical, supportive, and focused on helping you understand what’s actually driving your anxiety, overthinking, or self-doubt, and what to do about it in real life. Sessions are a space to slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and build tools you can use outside of therapy. You don’t need to have the right words, a clear goal, or a crisis to start. We take things at your pace and figure it out together. If you’re curious about therapy but not sure it’s for you, a consultation is a low-pressure way to ask questions and see if it feels like a good fit.

I work with college students by offering a safe and supportive space to talk through the ups and downs of this stage of life. Sometimes we use creative tools to help express feelings, and other times we just focus on conversation. My approach is always collaborative, and I’ll meet you where you’re at—whether that means exploring new ways to cope with stress, building healthier relationships, or simply having a space to sort through what’s on your mind.

College can feel like a constant balancing act between expectations, relationships, and the pressure to have it all figured out. I specialize in working with high-achieving individuals who look successful on the outside but privately struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt. Many of my clients are insightful and self-aware–they know why they feel the way they do, but that insight alone hasn’t been enough to shift how they feel. My approach focuses on helping you reconnect with your emotional experiences as valuable sources of information, not something to fix or avoid. Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the overthinking so you can feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally resilient. Clients describe me as warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I create a space where you can feel both deeply supported and gently challenged. If this resonates, I’d love to connect for a free consultation.

Have you ever said, "I feel good when I am dancing/ drawing/ coloring/ writing/ creating art, etc?" Are you looking to let go of these struggles, gain control of your anxiety, become your best self, and enjoy life again? If so, you've come to the right human. You deserve a life of joy, prosperity, and wellness. I believe in the power within you to overcome your struggles. Together we will use the arts for your healing. The healing begins with ourselves. From there, we can heal our family, our community, our nation, and then the world.
