Hello, I’m Emma (she/they) and I'm glad you're here! I support LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and those working through burnout, religious trauma, life transitions, and grief. I especially love working with highly masking folks who are ready to confront burnout and live more authentically! My approach as a counselor is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and social justice. My hope to create a space where you don’t have to filter or shrink yourself—where we can explore what matters to you, dismantle what doesn’t, and help you feel more at home in your life and body. My style is eclectic and anchored in self-exploration, cultural awareness, and self-compassion. I draw from frameworks like IFS, Feminist, and Existential Therapy that explore how our different parts intersect and how the world around us shapes our reality, values, and relationships. Therapy with me highlights authenticity, compassion, depth and laughter.

Often our first response to misfortune is to fight against it. While we may have skillful ways of doing this, our efforts nevertheless become futile and disconnect us from others. Our energy gets bound up, we get stuck in elusive cycles. However, our truths are complex and deserve to be recognized. I provide a focused and understanding space that supports you opening to your own aliveness and your voice. I bring my full attention, my honest feeling, and I will share what I see will help you. In a setting of mutual respect and trust, and with your active participation, I will encourage and challenge you to take risks to be more honest and vulnerable with yourself and in your relationships. The result is often a more comfortable, effective and empowered sense of self from which one can thrive. I offer individual therapy to adults who are interested in exploring one's relationship with oneself, including through dreams and creative process. I have a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, grief and self-esteem.

We all have a deep need for connection. This connection is often challenged and disrupted by experiences throughout our lives. This leads us all to experience some level of disconnect. This can lead to anxiety, depression, poor coping skills, substance use, and many other dis-eases. The good news is that we all have the potential to reconnect with our authentic self and heal! My approach to therapy and healing involves reconnection with our true selves, our body, and the present moment through compassionate listening, non-judgement and curiosity. For over 20 years, I have been providing therapy, assessment, and crisis services to our community. I believe in relationship and proven therapies to guide healing, well-being, greater insight, and confidence in your ability to grow and change. I approach this through appreciating your experience, seeing your strengths, and keeping your front and center in the process. The single most important thing that I have learned in my career is that we all have limitless potential to heal and recover. I deeply believe in your capacity to do so! This capacity already resides within you and you can reconnect with your authentic self to live your best life. I would be honored to embark on this journey with you.

College is a time of growth, change, and self-discovery—but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or the pressure of figuring out who you are and where you're headed, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in working with college students who are feeling stuck, anxious, or uncertain about their identity, future, relationships, or place in the world. Many of my clients are navigating major life transitions, questioning their sense of self, or working through the challenges of living independently for the first time. You might be adjusting to new academic pressures, dealing with imposter syndrome, exploring your values and beliefs, or feeling the weight of expectations—whether from family, school, or yourself. In therapy, you’ll have a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore your emotions, experiences, and goals with self-compassion. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). Together, we’ll work on understanding and reshaping negative self-beliefs, building confidence, and developing skills to help you navigate life’s challenges with more ease. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but taking that first step can help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself. I offer online scheduling and reduced rates for students through ThrivingCampus. Your growth and well-being matter. Contact me today to schedule your first session.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, working through a major life transition, or are simply looking for extra support, you’ve taken an important first step by looking into therapy. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where we can work together to help you navigate challenges, strengthen coping skills, and move towards greater well-being. You deserve care that meets you where you are, and I’m here to support you. As a mixed therapist, with White (Italian & Irish) and Indigenous (Mi'kmaq) ancestors, I know how hard it can be to find time for self growth and care while navigating oppressive systems. It can be even harder when we don't fit in a binary or see ourselves reflected in the spaces we live, work, or learn. I value cultivating a safe container for folks to bring all parts of themselves to, as I believe that it is in this space of truly relating as we are, that we may find the capacity for growth and change. I reserve a few sliding scale spots for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC clients who are committed to therapy, but are experiencing cost as a barrier to care. If you would like to request a reduce rate slot, please contact me for details and availability.

I work with people who feel like they don’t belong. Together, we’ll find ways to reconnect you to your inner strengths and capacities, to community and nourishing relationships, and to the world at large. There’s many reasons people might feel like misfits, weirdos, or exiles. Many of us can’t or won’t fit into our socially proscribed boxes. I have particular experience working with queer and non-binary folks, with people on the autism spectrum, with multiracial and/or bicultural folks, with creatives, innovators, and activists working on the edge of social change, and with survivors of trauma. And I’m open to working with anyone who feels drawn to my approach, so feel free to reach out!

I am an individual, adolescent, and couples therapist and approach counseling with exceptional compassion, curiosity, and thoughtfulness. I believe black lives matter and social justice is of core importance to therapy. I welcome and empower LGBTQIA+ clients. I inspire change and growth in my clients with gentle encouragement and humor. I offer support to people with relational, career, creative, and personal challenges through a trauma-informed lens. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help clients overcome anxiety, depression, or attachment challenges in order to help make life dreams come true. I help those who seek to heal from trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I draw on the Gottman method to strengthen couples’ relationships. My background is in expressive arts and I still enjoy acting and comedy as hobbies. Maybe you’re struggling with anxious thoughts or conflict with important people in your life. That is understandable. The experience of being first-gen has its own unique challenges. Online and in-person therapy for making beautiful things happen in hard times. So, what might make me a helpful person to hear your story? First, I love building relationships. I’ve worked with teens and young adults in so many places over the last 16 years: backpacking trips, schools, therapy offices, beaches, camps. Specifically, I’ve worked mostly with adolescents and young adults who were also: immigrants, refugees, dreamers, queer, trans, non-binary, BIPOC, LGBTQ+. We can talk about who you’re becoming, relationships, dreams, and the hard stuff that keeps you up at night. I’m here because I genuinely like what I do and I’m excited to meet you. Second, I take the time to get to know more about your world and our world. I’m a queer person with a disability, and I’ve had to learn the power of believing in my own value, even when other people don’t see it. Maybe you have a similar experience. It helps to learn about how the world around us affects us so we can work to let go of things that aren’t our fault and change what we can. Third, I never stop training to be a more helpful therapist. One of my favorite methods is called Accelerated Resolution Therapy. It has some similarities to EMDR, but does not involve talking about trauma in great detail, unless of course that feels helpful! It often provides great relief!
