I enjoy working with students at the collegiate level. It can be such an exciting time of life, but can also present unique challenges that create uncertainty and impact mental health. I am here to support this adjustment period, whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, or experiencing executive function challenges. I have the ability to see you via telehealth or in person, and am able to collaborate with your provider at home (if you're attending from out of state) to continue or adjust medications while in the state of Oregon.

I get it. You want to be true to yourself, to embrace your passions and be authentically you, but something is always holding you back. Maybe you're afraid that you're not enough if you stop achieving. Maybe you haven't yet found a community that celebrates your uniqueness. Maybe you have good intentions, but can't seem to escape bad habits. Prism Counseling is therapy for the offbeat. It's personable, accepting, and practical. I want to help you learn to work alongside your mind—even on its bad days—and build a custom-tailored life that works for you.

Welcome to my practice. College is a massive transition-- a time of building new independence, finding where you belong, and figuring out who you are going to become. It can also feel overwhelming, lonely, and stressful. I am a licensed clinical psychologist here to help you with it all. My practice centers on Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). This is a collaborative, real-world approach focused on your relationships and daily life. Together, we will look at how your connections-- with roommates, family, partners, or professors-- impact how you feel, and work on communication tools to help you set boundaries, resolve conflicts, and feel heard. Outside of my clinical work, I serve as a board member for Rose Children's Theatre. That background means I deeply value creativity, authentic expression, and the power of storytelling. I know that life can sometimes feel like a performance where you are forced to play a role that doesn't fit. In our sessions, there is no script and no audience. It is a completely authentic, judgment-free place to explore your thoughts and build self-confidence. Whether you are dealing with burnout, relationship drama, identity questions, or deeper questions of meaning, you don't have to figure it out alone. Let's work together to write your next chapter.

Hi there! My name is Amanda and I’m grateful for your courage in taking this step. The college years can be a very stressful time due to all of the changes and transitions happening in your life. Whether you're looking for just a few sessions or long-term therapy, I believe healing can happen with the right knowledge, hard work and laughter along the way. I use EMDR, DBT, mindfulness, and life coaching in my therapy sessions. If you've read this far, I encourage you to reach out to see if we are a good fit.
Are you struggling with managing anxiety? Do you worry frequently? I teach coping skills and we agree upon homework for each session. We will actively target the issues you want to work on so that you can be more aligned with your values. We can work on managing emotions, addressing anxiety, understanding the impact of trauma, problem-solving and organizing, and more. Reach out if this sounds like a good fit for you.
You might be feeling stuck: disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or the kind of life you want to be living. Maybe you're navigating stress from high expectations or caregiving roles, or struggling to feel close to others even when you crave connection. You may carry pain from earlier experiences or feel like you've had to hide parts of yourself just to get by. Whatever brings you here, you're considering the brave and vulnerable work of change, and that is huge. I work with people who are ready to feel more grounded, more connected, and more like themselves. I bring a particular focus on working with LGBTQ+ and multiply marginalized clients navigating the emotional toll of invisibility, hypervisibility, or living in systems not built for them, but enjoy working with clients of all identities who may be feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. I am neurodiversity-affirming, use an attachment-based lens, and provide letters for gender-affirming medical services. You don’t have to go through this alone, and you don’t have to explain your existence before we can get to the heart of things. In addition to individual therapy, I offer CNM-inclusive relationship therapy. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy and an attachment-based lens to help partners feel safer, more seen, and more emotionally connected. We focus on shifting out of reactive cycles and into more secure, responsive ways of relating. I bring a warm, relational, trauma-informed approach that honors your wisdom and your goals. Together, we can explore what’s getting in the way, deepen your emotional insight, and create space for more authenticity, clarity, and intimacy in your life. When you feel safe and seen, amazing things can happen.
I am a licensed psychologist in Eugene, Oregon with a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute. I trained at Santa Clara University for a predoctoral internship and at Cornell University for my postdoctoral residency. In the past, I have worked in a substance use residential treatment center, in a primary care clinic for health psychology training, at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and at both community college and university settings. I have experience with helping individuals address trauma, depression, anxiety, and increase the ability to manage emotions. I also can help with adjustment to medical diagnoses and making behavioral changes in consultation with your physicians. I have done extensive work focused on multicultural experiences and can help with navigating race-related stress, understanding immigrant, first generation, or multiracial identities, and LGBT identity concerns. I provide therapy that is integrative, but primarily draws from Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance-commitment therapy (ACT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Cognitive processing therapy for trauma (CPT), and schema therapy. I also strongly believe that therapy must be grounded in multicultural understanding of identity and human functioning. When working with me, you will share your experiences with a warm, compassionate, safe person, while collaborating toward your goals in concrete ways. We will address the issues that are most important to you in counseling while you continue to make change in your life. It is important that therapy is working for you, so we will check in about the process of therapy and your own sense of progress on a regular basis. Through our work together, my goal as a therapist is to empower you to enrich your life with positive change. We will address your thoughts and feelings, and endeavor to expand your capacity to accept and cope with your emotions. Together, we will strive to reduce unwanted behaviors and to deepen your understanding of yourself and others.
Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder or any of the issues that come along with one (i.e. anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, perfectionism, guilt, shame, body image distress, or difficulty in relationships), I would love to help you. Sometimes when you’ve felt anxious or burdened for long enough, it can begin to feel as though this is how it is always going to be. You might even find yourself saying that this is just the life you deserve. Maybe you are a Christian who is trying to make sense of how you are feeling while also navigating your faith. I am here to tell you healing is possible! Therapy with me is a place where you can freely be you, without judgement, as we work together to help you to become a healthier, more whole version of yourself. I offer therapy that allows you to bring in your faith (triumphs, struggles, and all). You don't have to figure it all out on your own (thankfully!). If you feel that I might be a good fit for you, please call or email me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation or to book your first appointment.
My role is to support clients to achieve goals, whether it be for self-exploration, empowerment, navigating the challenges of a life transition or wanting to enhance or maintain the quality of a relationship. I am a trauma-informed therapist who highlights strengths and believes that every individual possesses the innate power of making meaningful changes.
