Therapists for college students near Philadelphia, PA
Guessing your way through life is stressful. I work with college students who are realizing that there's a lot of things that they weren't taught in school and are ready to take control of their future. Now that you have more freedom and choice, you also have to figure out what to do with it. Who are you? Who do you want to be? What do you want to do with your life? How do you get there? If you're starting out college, you might be trying to get yourself into a routine, make new friends, navigate the campus dating scene, decide on a major, or handle the stress of midterms/finals. Maybe you're past that part of your college experience, but you still haven't found a good solution to those problems: still putting off studying, dealing with friend drama, having ups and downs with dating, etc. And if you're getting towards the end of your college experience, you might be worried out about what you're going to do after college and what that will look like. You don't need to figure all that out on your own. I help people get to the root of their problems so that they can understand themselves and others better. If you can understand your past and unlearn things that aren't helping you anymore, then you can replace them with healthy ways to move forward with confidence.
I'm happy that you are here! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor passionate about working with teens and adults with generalized/social anxiety, depression, and relational strife. I work with folks in a collaborative and creative approach to find what works for you while using evidenced-based treatment in therapy. I believe that one of the pillars of wellness is recognizing that you have inherent worth. Through the therapeutic process of acceptance and change, I will be alongside you in your journey in recognizing that You Matter :) My clinical experience includes working at UPMC Service for Teens at Risk (STAR Clinic) with teens and college students and as Crisis Clinician at the University of Pittsburgh - University Counseling Center working with young adults in crisis. I am trained in the following modalities: CBT, DBT, CAMS. Currently training in CBT for Insomnia
I have been a therapist for over 30 years and have focused my work around helping clients develop healthy, satisfying relationships. I find that the people I see feel isolated, disappointed, and fearful of connecting with others. My approach is psychodynamic meaning that I see current concerns as a function of past relationships with significant people in one's life.
In our work together, you'll have a non-judgmental space to explore whatever is holding you back, while also taking steps toward change and a more fulfilling future. I work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and low self-esteem. I became a therapist after 20 years in mental health research, where I gained a deep appreciation for the many factors that influence whether we are just surviving or fully thriving – spanning our life experiences, relationships, communities, and environment. I bring that curiosity to my work with clients, along with warmth, empathy, a sense of humor, and practical tools. We will use evidence-based approaches and a person-centered, empowering philosophy. You are a whole person and not a set of symptoms or a diagnosis. We’ll focus on building concrete skills to get you through difficult moments, always anchoring our sessions with curiosity, kindness, humor, and a deep respect for what matters most to you.
Elemental Wellness is about mind-body-soul healing. We focus on all aspects of self in order to help someone heal. Life can feeling overwhelming at times and change can be hard. We are here to help guide you through these times. We specialize in trauma and EMDR treatment along with somatic healing.
I see one of the most important roles as a therapist to be putting in the work to earn someone’s trust and walking beside them as an accomplice on their path towards growth. I don’t believe that people are “broken” or “need to be fixed”, but rather that somewhere within every person lies the capacity to generate change. I believe this change begins by finding someone trustworthy to support them through this process. And—that being kinder and gentler towards ourselves goes a long way to building the foundation for this change to occur. My experiences span across 15 years, with the scope of my direct work supporting clients in their exploration of gender expression/transition, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss and more- all within Allegheny County. I am also happy to provide evaluations and letters for Gender Affirming surgeries, Green Card Status, and Emotional Support Animals. The world is an often hard place to be, and my goal is to create a space for softness to occur. To not only listen but to hear and understand. To respect through accountability. To address struggles through processing and also through action leading to systemic change.
If you’re a high-achieving student who looks “fine” on the outside but feels overwhelmed, anxious, or exhausted on the inside, you’re not alone. The pressure to perform academically, have a thriving social life, and figure out your future (all at the same time!) can quietly take a toll on your mental health. As a licensed mental health counselor, I help driven college students build lifelong coping skills and find balance—without pushing themselves harder or burning out. Together we can work to identify what you would like to be different in your life, and make a clear plan to help you get there. By the way - I'm also a certified career counselor, so if landing internships or planning life beyond college is stressing you out, I can help you there too. If you’re looking for therapy that’s down-to-earth, compassionate, and focused on helping you actually enjoy your college experience instead of just pushing through, let's connect! I offer a free 30 minute consultation call to see if we're a good fit before we start working together.

I am an LCSW with a private practice offering outpatient psychotherapy in Pa. Furnace, PA. I primarily offer teletherapy sessions but occasionally meet with clients face to face, mostly in outdoor settings. I have been practicing since 2011 and accept students, community members, and others within the state of PA. I specialize in individual therapy, though I also have experience with couples. I usually use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness framework, though many other therapeutic approaches are used as well depending on the needs of the client. As a social worker, I also offer a fair amount of casework for clients who need access to academic, employment, housing, medical, legal, and other kinds of community resources. Over the years I have found that I develop an excellent working relationship with a wide variety of clients, but particularly so with clients presenting with concerns centered on their existential and spiritual concerns as well as on their relationship with the natural world.
My passion is working with clients who struggle with eating concerns and body image issues. I have experience with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. I can also help if you feel that your relationship with food and/or exercise is complicated but have not been diagnosed with an eating disorder. I practice from a Health at Every Size® perspective and offer an inclusive space for all. I value being empathetic while challenging my clients to step outside of their comfort zone and unlock their strengths. Taking the first step to get help and support can be intimidating but it can lead to growth and change! My approach to treating eating disorders is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as emotional exploration. Sessions focus on emotional awareness, thought exploration, mindfulness, and reducing avoidance. I also treat co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and depression. Whether you have been struggling for some time or are just curious about therapy, feel free to contact me. I am open to phone consultations prior to the first session. One phone call or email can be the first step to change and a growth mindset. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to hearing from you!
At EmBODY Confidence, we support neurodivergent women and teens who struggle with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, low self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation. Our approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and self-understanding, helping you feel truly at home in your body without shame or apology. You want to trust your emotions, take up space, eat without guilt, and show up fully in your life. We are here to help you get there with compassion, clarity, and courage. Together, we explore the deeper roots of your struggles, build awareness of the systems that created them, and develop tools for lasting change. We work collaboratively, because you know yourself and your body best. We are a fat-positive, anti-diet, LGBTQIA+, and gender-affirming practice aligned with Health at Every Size® (HAES). EmBODY Confidence is neurodivergent-affirming and committed to creating a space where every body, identity, and mind is welcomed and safe. Research shows that neurodivergent women and LGBTQIA+ individuals are more likely to experience eating disorders or disordered eating patterns than cisgender individuals. Unfortunately, traditional treatment models often fail to meet their unique needs. Our work bridges that gap with affirming, specialized care designed specifically for you. You do not have to do this alone. Healing is possible and you are absolutely worthy of it.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
