Therapists for college students near Pittsburgh, PA
Taking the first step on your healing journey can be difficult. Whether you're seeking therapy to process trauma, navigate difficult relationships, or to overcome life’s daily challenges, I'm happy you're here exploring your options and taking that first step. Throughout my career, I've worked with clients experiencing a wide range of these challenges including sexual and physical abuse, family conflict, relationship struggles, intimacy challenges, identity work, anxiety and depression. I am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While I have several years of training in these modalities, I hold a strong belief that treatment should be individualized for each client. I believe you have the capacity to find healing, but you shouldn't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to partner with you on your journey no matter the challenge you are facing. Finding a therapist can feel exhausting so when you're ready, I hope you will reach out with any questions to see if I'm the therapist for you.
Hi! I'm Julie Rodgers, Licensed Professional Counselor. I have much experience working in college counseling centers and am passionate about supporting young adults successfully navigate their college experience (academic, socially, emotionally, financially). I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to increase mindfulness/acceptance and increase skills to improve emotion regulation, interpersonal skills, and distress tolerance. I incorporate other approaches as well and like to keep session stimulating and fun with art-based activities! I am trained in trauma-informed yoga and incorporate mind-body experience to process traumatic events. Our center runs DBT groups weekly, so that is a wonderful option in addition to individual therapy for those looking for group connection. I look forward to meeting you!
Your mental health matters. I offer creative and empathetic counseling services to meet you where you are. I am here to help you foster self-awareness, self-compassion, and confidence. We live in an especially stressful time, and we all need extra support. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy, so I utilize an empathetic, person-centered approach, bringing in tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, and CBT where appropriate. Together, we will develop goals and a treatment plan to help you become the best version of yourself.
I welcome the opportunity to work with students seeking support. In addition to talking, I use a range of expressive methods to assist with personal growth and healing, including imagery, writing, drama, and movement. Using a mind/body/spirit approach, I enjoy assisting students with enhancing their own holistic well-being.

Going to college may feel like it is supposed to be one of the most exciting times in your life. Leaving home, starting an independent life and creating connections with people from all over the world sounds great, right? But, it is also one of the more challenging times in life from a developmental stance. Family relations feel different, making friends can be challenging in a larger setting, academics are rigorous and there is a struggle to know who you 'really are.' On top of that, differences between you and others on identity dimensions can have you re-examining where you fit into the larger world around you. I am here to help guide you through this time so that you can work through unpleasant feelings while simultaneously feeling more confident in the person you are becoming and wish to be.
Clients often say "I wish I had started with you sooner." I specialize in life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationships, and grief and loss. I am informed in several therapeutic modalities and hold a level II certification in Attachment Based Family Therapy. Former college athlete.
Immediate availability! I am a licensed psychologist who works with adults 18+ and couples, particularly around navigating stress and anxiety, building self-confidence, navigating life transitions, and relationships. My goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable discussing challenging experiences and relationships, build resilience and coping skills, and develop your own individual identity. I hope to make this a collaborative experience in which we can engage in problem solving and exploration around all aspects of personal and professional development, while also sharing in some laughter. My approach is warm and conversational, yet direct. I use a combination of skills-based interventions with more traditional “talk” therapy as I believe therapy should be flexible and tailored to each individual. My goal is to support while also challenge you, all while using humor and your strengths to help you flourish!
I’m a good fit for students who get trapped in their head—overthinking everything, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they can’t relax unless everything is “handled.” You might be high-achieving, but constantly stressed, exhausted, or scared of messing up. Sometimes that turns into procrastination, avoidance, or feeling numb. In therapy, we’ll focus on helping you calm the mental noise, handle stress more effectively, and build confidence in your choices—so school and life don’t feel like a constant emergency.
I offer a client centered approach to care, valuing honesty, compassion, and accountability. I believe that that the client/therapist relationship should be one that is based on mutual trust & respect, open & honest communication, and ability to work collaboratively on treatment goals. If you are thinking about taking that brave next step, I would love to meet you, and it would be an honor to embark on that journey with you! I offer a remote treatment experience for those that would prefer to remain in the comfort of their own home. You can expect our first session to be a laid-back conversation, where you can share with me only what you feel comfortable as we build trust. If you wish to continue, we will set some goals together and work on a plan that meets your needs. Whether you are struggling with social pressures, academia stress, the adjustment to college life, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, or just feeling overwhelmed-- I am here to offer support and empowerment along the way.

Great to meet you! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field. I am deeply committed to supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and confidence. Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, bringing a depth of knowledge, strong clinical skills, and genuine compassion to my work with clients. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University in 2015 and completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling at Edinboro University in 2020. During my graduate training, I worked full-time as a school-based therapist, where I developed specialized experience supporting children and adolescents coping with trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Finding calm and clarity when your mind won’t slow down is possible. I can guide the way. We have more influence over our thoughts than we realize. In our work, you’ll learn to approach your thinking more intentionally. As your thoughts change, you’ll start to notice changes in how you feel, the choices you make, and how you move through your life. I help clients slow things down, make sense of what’s been difficult, and address the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. This often includes working through anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma and past experiences. I also support women navigating life transitions, helping them feel more grounded and steady through change. My approach is thoughtful and practical, combining insight with tools you can use in your day-to-day life.
