Therapists for college students near Nashville, TN
Hi there! My name is Cory Bedtke, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I received a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2015, and started my career as a school social worker prior to switching over to clinical work with adults. While this may seem like a big transition, it's funny how similar our problems are at the different stages of life. Currently, I enjoy working with clients in young and middle adulthood who would like to feel less stressed and anxious, improve their mood, work on communication, and feel more secure in their relationships. I also work with folks who want to process and find ways to cope with traumatic experiences. College can be an amazingly wonderful but also daunting time, so I am here to help you navigate the challenges that you face.
Hello! We specialize in using a holistic lens to treat individuals dealing with all sorts of struggles and transitions. We utilize a trauma informed lens, and understand trauma impacts all of mental health in one way or another. We work together to create common goals, meeting the client where they are at and helping to guide them forward. EMDR is a main modality we utilize, as well as regular CBT talk therapy, mindfulness practices, and more.
You're tired of always feeling overwhelmed, on autopilot, or stuck in your head with anxiety and insecurities. Self-defeating beliefs and patterns are seriously getting in the way of your goals, work, or relationships. And maybe you also struggle with food, body image, or past events / traumas that make you wonder if you'll *ever* feel okay in your own skin. Did I just just describe you? Let's talk. I'm not a passive therapist-- I roll up my sleeves and give you tangible strategies to deal more effectively in the moment with difficult experiences, thoughts, and feelings. I help my clients learn how to be more assertive and authentic, and less focused on people-pleasing, perfectionism, approval-seeking, and the "shoulds" that weigh them down. I use EMDR, ACT, IFS, and somatic and experiential techniques to bridge the gap between head and heart, mind and body. I'm committed to helping you break through what's been blocking you from a compassionate relationship with yourself and deeper connection with your partner, family & friends. With this clarity, you're better equipped to engage your passion & purpose to contribute to the world in the ways you deeply desire.

Licensed to offer therapy services in Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan, Dr. Honeycutt is often sought out due to the advanced IFS (Level 3) training he received in 2010 under the model's founder, Dr. Richard Schwartz. With particular interest in how the ancient Judeo-Christian understanding of the psyche (soul) overlaps with modern theories of mental health, he has spoken on this subject at conferences, educational seminars, and university classrooms. Approaching work with clients from a Christian framework of psycho-spiritual health, Dr. Honeycutt combines modern-day techniques and psychological research with an ancient understanding of the human condition as created by God. Non-Christian clients who are interested in such an approach are also welcome. Sessions are typically offered online for those living outside the Lynchburg area.

We all enjoy the excitement of learning and living a fulfilled life. However, we often don’t take the time we need to take care of ourselves. For many people, this fast pace lifestyle leads to stress in different parts of our lives (careers, financial crises, children, spouses and parents) and can begin to spiral out of control and cause real stress. This can lead to anxiety, depression, addictions, anger and other painful challenges. Allan J. Katz will help you successfully understand and master the ways in which different aspects of your life interact and affect emotional health. From sex addiction counseling, stress management and couples therapy, you will discover new ways to reduce anxiety and depression, and improve the intimacy in your relationship.

I earned my PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) degree at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and I have worked in different settings including university/community counseling centers, dual diagnosis treatment centers, and psychiatric hospitals (Austen Riggs Center). I work from a psychoanalytic orientation. This approach emphasizes the importance of both past and present experiences, relationships, emotions, patterns of being, and the unconscious. While it is natural to want to move away from suffering, it is when we give it a voice that healing can begin. Though genetics can play a role in the development of psychiatric problems; symptoms are some of the ways our psyche and body deal with pain that has not been understood, contextualized, and articulated. My goal as a psychoanalytic therapist is to help my patients notice how their symptoms are not accidental experiences to dodge, but rather meaningful communications to explore. Only through this inquiry can patients tap into interpersonal and intrapersonal as well as conscious and unconscious phenomena that have shaped their life and continue to contribute to their suffering.
